Gamers who avidly keep track of some of the most popular upcoming titles will know exactly what I'm talking about. With all of the games coming out from the likes of Blizzard Entertainment, Valve, Epic Games, and many other successful developers, there's no reason not to be excited and completely fanatical.
Regrettably, I don't own a Wii and I could give two shits about the PS3 so before I run down this list of games that I've composed, I just want to state that I won't be listing any upcoming exclusives for either of those systems.
Starcraft 2
Without a doubt, Starcraft 2 is the game that I'm most excited about. The original Starcraft is a nearly flawless RTS and is still widely played. Hell, the Koreans loved it so much they turned it into a sport down there where competitors are treated like rockstars and make the big bucks. Crazy shit.
Now why exactly am I so excited for this title? I've always wanted to put all of my RTS practice and focus into one game Starcraft 2 will definately be that game for me. Starcraft, despite being a decade old, is just one of those games that you can still play and thoroughly. Obviously, the franchise has done something right.
Terrans ftw.
Gears of War 2
Loved the gameplay mechanics and concepts of the first Gears. It had an action packed campaign and the multiplayer was still great fun despite the fact that it was a bit flawed, mainly because it was added as a last-minute feature.
Fortunately, Gears of War 2 will be addressing all of the issues of the first, adding plenty of new content and features, and improving everything overall to make sure it is an A+ experience. With so much emphasis going into the multiplayer aspect this time around, Gears of War 2 will be a must have for 360 owners and shooter fans.
Left 4 Dead
Left 4 Dead will be blending three of my favorite things in games: Co-op, survival horror, and zombies! It's been in development for quite sometime because Valve knows that they're making something special here. It'll definately be one hell of a game to play with your buds. Just make sure none of your friends or teammates think that they're John Rambo and get mauled the second the split apart from the group.
Fallout 3
Now I'm a big fan of good RPG's with plenty of depth and storyline, so it drives me crazy to know that I've never even played Fallout 1 or 2, which were considered revolutionary in their time. Oh well though. Fallout 3 will be quite different from the first two for a number or reasons that I won't list. To sum it up, it's a free-roam RPG that takes place in a post-apocalyptic United States. Think Oblivion, but replace fantasy landscapes, swords, and magic with barren wastlelands, guns, and explosives.
These four games above are must-buys for me. I don't want to make my first blog a big wall of text so I'll just list the rest of the games free of descriptions.
Dead Space
Call of Duty: World at War
Silent Hill: Homecoming
Saints Row 2
Spore
Fable 2
Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe
Halo Wars
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Far Cry 2
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3
A good season of gaming is coming indeed.
My next blogs will cover some of my various interests, game news, and I'll do an occasional review of a game, film, or album every now and then. Thanks to any readers.
